Since 2016
Maryam Driving School was established in 2016 in Abbottabad by Mam Maryam. At the time, women in the area who wanted to learn driving had few places to go where the setting felt comfortable and the teaching felt unhurried. Mam Maryam started the school to fill exactly that gap.
From the first lesson onward, the school was built around women learners. That decision shaped everything else: who teaches, how lessons are paced, and what a learner is expected to know before moving on. Female instruction is a central part of the school's identity, not an add-on — every learner is taught by a female driving instructor.
As word spread, the school extended its driving lessons to women in Mansehra as well, near Township, alongside the original Abbottabad location near Jadoon Plaza, Phase 2. Today it serves learners across both cities, and the approach has not changed: patience first, practical driving second, and confidence as the result of both.
One early decision shaped the school as much as female instruction did: making pick & drop free rather than charging for it. Daily travel was the barrier that stopped most women from finishing a course, so it was removed from the equation entirely. Admission moved online for the same reason — a woman should be able to enrol, choose her course and agree her timings without leaving home.
Many learners arrive having never sat in the driver's seat. Others have a licence but have not driven in years. Both are normal starting points here, and both are handled the same way — step by step, at a pace the learner sets.
Learning to drive is a life skill. It should be taught with patience, not pressure.
The person behind the school
Maryam Driving School is founded and led by Mam Maryam. She started the school in 2016 and her vision is what makes it a women-focused driving school rather than a general one.
Her teaching philosophy is straightforward. A learner who feels rushed does not learn well, so lessons move at the learner's pace. Questions are expected, repetition is fine, and nothing is treated as obvious. Instruction stays respectful throughout — a learner should never feel embarrassed about what she does not yet know.
The emphasis is practical. Rather than theory for its own sake, lessons build the habits a woman actually needs to drive her own car on everyday roads, one skill layered on the last.

A dedicated space for women learners is not about excluding anyone. It is about removing the things that slow learning down. When a learner is comfortable, she asks more questions, admits when she has not understood something, and practises until a skill is genuinely hers.
For many women in Abbottabad and Mansehra, learning with a female instructor is simply the arrangement that works best for them and their families. Maryam Driving School exists to make that option available.

Guidance that corrects without discouraging.
Early lessons are calm and slow by design.
No learner is pushed ahead before she is ready.
Practice on the kinds of roads you will actually drive.
The goal is driving alone calmly, not just passing a lesson.
Every learner follows the same five stages. How long each one takes is entirely up to her.
01
Understanding the vehicle and its basic controls before anything moves.
02
Steering, braking, acceleration and basic maneuvering.
03
Learning to handle the everyday road situations you will meet.
04
Becoming calmer and steadier behind the wheel with repetition.
05
The practical habits responsible everyday driving depends on.
Both cities sit in the Hazara region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the school teaches in each of them. If you are looking for driving training for women anywhere in this part of Pakistan, the starting point is the same: get in touch and we will tell you what is available in your city.

Near Jadoon Plaza, Phase 2 — where the school began in 2016. Women searching for ladies driving classes or a female driving instructor in Abbottabad can learn from the very beginning here, or come back for refresher practice after a break. Free pick & drop from home in nearby areas.

Near Township. The same ladies-only driving lessons are available to learners in Mansehra, taught by female instructors with the same practical, step-by-step approach used in Abbottabad, and the same free pick & drop from home.
Travelling to a lesson can be the hardest part of starting. If that is your situation, see the pick & drop service for transport options.
Lessons cover the full range of skills a woman needs to drive on her own, from the first time she sits in the driver's seat to handling ordinary traffic without help.
